The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 8-3 on Monday night to beat the Cardinals three games to one in their four game series.  The Brewers are now 19-19 on the season and four games behind the league leading Chicago Cubs.

Ryan Braun led the Brewers on Monday night with two solo home runs in the game as he finished with two rbi.  Bill Hall also had a solo home run in the game to account for his one rbi.  Corey Hart finished with two rbi as he had a two run single in the third inning.  Mike Cameron also had a rbi ground rule double in the third inning.

Dave Bush finally picked up his first win of the season as he improved to 1-4.  Bush tossed six innings of four hit baseball while only letting one run score.  Eric Gagne pitched two innings of relief after Bush exited the game and he was his normal self as he gave up two walks and let one run score.  Mitch Stetter then walked four batters to let another run score.  So the Brewers bullpen really didn’t pitch well, it was a good thing that Bush only gave up one run before turning the game over to the bullpen.

The Brewers now welcome the Los Angeles Dodgers into town as they will play a three game series.  Brewers Blog

The Milwaukee Brewers are struggling right now as they lost their fifth straight game.  The Florida Marlins beat the Brewers 6-2 on Wednesday night to sweep the Brewers.  With the loss, the Brewers are 5.5 games out of first place in the division.

Dave Bush dropped to 0-4 on the season as he took the loss for the Brewers.  Bush gave up five hits and six runs in six innings of action against the Marlins.  What hurt Bush was the long ball as he gave up two home runs in the game.

Seth McClung pitched two innings of relief after Bush was taken out of the game and did not allow a run.

Rickie Weeks had both RBI for the Brewers as he hit a two run home run in the sixth inning.  Other then that, the Brewers bats were dead all night long.  They are really going to have to start swinging the bat better before they are ten games out of first place in the division.

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Dave Bush is off to a 0-3 start after Tuesday’s night game against the St. Louis Cardinals.  The Cardinals defeated the Brewers 6-1 after the Brewers had a 2-0 lead.  The Cardinals scored insurance runs in the seventh and eigth innings that put the game out of reach for the Brewers.

Bush pitched six innings and gave up six hits and three earned runs.  He now has a 7.02 ERA on the season so far.  Bush better pick things up before he loses his spot in the rotation.

David Riske only got two batters out and gave up an earned run on two hits.  Brian Shouse pitched .2 innings as well but did not allow a run to cross the plate.  Derrick Turnbow gave up four hits and two earned runs in his .2 innings of action.  Turnbow has really struggled this year.

Corey Hart was the only Brewers play to record a RBI.  Other then that, the Brewers had zero offense against the Cardinals.

The Milwaukee Brewers got a good old fashioned butt kicking by the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night as the Reds beat the Brewers 12-4.  The Reds used 10 runs in the 6th through 9th innings to pull away for the blowout win.

Dave Bush picked up the loss for the Brewers, it was Bush’s second loss of the season already.  He only lasted 5.1 innings as he gave up six hits, five runs (four earned), three walks, and four strikeouts.  Derrick Turnbow and Seth McClung came in and both sucked it up in relief.  Turnbow gave up two earned runs and McClung with five earned runs.  You can’t win your bullpen gives up seven earned runs in a ballgame!

Ryan Braun and Bill Hall both hit solo home runs for the Brewers, and they also scored a couple of unearned runs but it clearly wasn’t enough to beat the Reds.

The Milwaukee Brewers were hoping to leave Chicago with a three game sweep of the Chicago Cubs but that wasn’t meant to be as they lost on Thursday afternoon by the score of 6-3.

Starting pitcher Dave Bush was in trouble most of the afternoon, and the Cubs finally made a Brewers pitcher pay for their mistakes.  Bush only lasted 5.1 innings giving up six hits, six earned runs, five walks, and four strikeouts.  Definately not the start that he wanted to have.

One thing that really hurt the Brewers today was the Cubs base stealing.  They finally exploited the weakness with Jason Kendall.  I’m surpised they didn’t try stealing 20 bases this series, as they know that Kendall has a terrible arm.  As long as Kendall is the catcher, Brewers fans are going to have to live with the fact that other team will be trying to run on him all the time.

All in all, I’m take a 2-1 series win to start the season.  Against the Cubs and a divsional rival, it is even that much better!

The Milwaukee Brewers and pitcher Dave Bush have avoided salary arbitration as they agree on a one year contract that will pay Bush $2.55 million.  Bush had asked for $3 million which is a hefty pay raise from his $450,000 salary in 2007.

Bush better really step up in 2008 and earn this nice $2 million dollar pay raise.  I’m sure he is really celebrating the contract.  Who wouldn’t with that kind of raise!
