Right hander Yovani Gallardo is one of the better young starting pitchers in the majors, but you’d never know it if you just looked at his record against the St. Louis Cardinals. Gallardo was shelled by the Cardinals’ hitters in the Brewers’ 13-1 loss on April 27, 2012. In two innings of work, he was charged with eight earned runs, driving his season ERA up from 3.65 to 6.08. HIs career record against St. Louis is now 1-9 with a 7.05 ERA.

One of the more pleasant surprises for the Milwaukee Brewers in the early part of the 2012 season has been the play of outfielder Carlos Gomez. Through the first three weeks of the season, Gomez was hitting a robust .371, with an on base percentage of .389. Six of his 13 hits were for extra bases, and he led the club with five stolen bases.
