The Milwaukee Brewers kicked off their series down in Arizona with a 6-3 loss to the Diamondbacks on Monday night.  Dave Bush didn’t have a very good game as he took the loss and fell to 4-8 on the season.  Bush only pitched five innings as he gave up nine hits and five runs.  Four of the five runs were earned.  A error in the fifth inning by Corey Hart that let a run score really hurt the Brewers and Bush.  If that play was made, Bush might have stayed in the game longer in my opinion.

Carlos Villanueva pitched two innings and gave up a solo home run to Mark Reynolds in the seventh inning.  Mitch Stetter then pitched the eighth inning without giving up a run.

The Brewers had three different players all record an rbi in the game.  Things got started for the Brewers right away as J.J. Hardy had a rbi double that scored Rickie Weeks.  Then Prince Fielder singled to scored Hardy and the Brewers were up 2-0 after the top half of the first inning.  However the Brewers wouldn’t score again until the sixth inning when Gabe Kapler walked with the bases loaded to score Fielder.  The Brew Crew had their chances to score more runs but left 18 runners on base.

It was a really bad game as well for the Brewers because the Cubs and Cardinals both won their games.  The Brewers are now 5.5 games out of first place.  Brewers Blog

The Milwaukee Brewers were attempting to sweep the Atlanta Braves in their three game series but the Braves had other thoughts and defeated the Brewers 4-2.  It was still a good series for the Brewers however as they took two out of three games from the Braves down in hot Atlanta.

Jeff Suppan suffered his sixth loss of the season as he fell to 4-6 after taking the loss on Wednesday.  Suppan pitched six innings and allowed nine hits and four runs to score.  Suppan did strike out five batters but still had trouble getting outs in the game.

Mitch Stetter and Guillermo Mota finished the up the game for the Brewers on the mound.  Stetter pitched 1 2/3 innings while Mota recorded the final out in the eighth inning.

The Brewers scored both of their runs on rbi doubles in the third inning.  Mike Rivera doubled to score Mike Cameron and then Rickie Weeks doubled to score Rivera.  The Brewers as a team were limited to only six hits during the game.

So after taking two of three from the Braves, the Brewers will now be off on Thursday as they fly to Minnesota to begin a three game series on Friday evening.

For the second night in a row the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Atlanta Braves by the score of 4-3.  The Brewers are playing great baseball and right now it seems like they are getting every break and taking advantage of other teams mistakes.  Exactly like a good team should do.

Dave Bush was awesome as he pitched first seven innings of the game.  Bush only allowed four hits and one run while picking up the win and improving to 4-7 on the season.  The bullpen has been getting a lot of rest so far this week as Ben Sheets and Bush both went late in to the game.  That is exactly how you want your starting pitchers to pitch!

Brian Shouse tossed a scoreless inning in the eighth inning before he turned things over to Salomon Torres who almost blew the game.  Torres served up a two run home run to Mark Teixeira which brough the score to 4-3.  Luckily for the Brewers, Torres was able to finish out the game and pick up the save.

At the plate for the Brewers they recorded four runs on seven hits.  Ryan Braun got a rbi single in the first inning and then J.J. Hardy scored on a rbi groundout by Corey Hart.  In the second inning Hardy came up to the plate and hit a rbi double to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead.  On to the fourth inning when Rickie Weeks hit a rbi sac fly that scored Jason Kendall for the Brewers fourth and final run of the game.  That was enough production out of the offense to pick up the win.

The Brewers will go for the sweet on Wednesday.  The way they are playing, I think they will get the job done!

What a great performance by Ben Sheets on Monday night as he tossed a complete game and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Atlanta Braves 4-1.  The Brewers are playing some very good baseball right now, and they kept that up as they kicked off the three game series with the Braves with a nice victory.

Sheets improved to 9-1 on the season as he picked up the win.  Hopefully the Brewers can stay in contention so we don’t have to hear about all these Ben Sheets trade rumors.  I’m sure all the Brewers fans are already tired of hearing abou those rumors.

At the plate it was Mike Cameron getting the Brew Crew on the board with two runs in the second inning.  Cameron hit a two run home run to put the Brewers up 2-0.  The next two Brewers runs came in the third inning when J.J. Hardy doubled and Rickie Weeks scored.  Hardy then scored on a Ryan Braun double.  That was all the scoring that was needed as Sheets was on fire on the mound.

Tuesday the Brewers will look to go up 2-0 in the series as Dave Bush will take the mound.

Dave Bush took a no hitter into the eighth inning only to have it broken up by a Lyle Overbay triple to start the inning and the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Blue Jays 8-7 and swept them in the three game series.  It would have been a lot better game had the Brewers bullpen not allowed the Blue Jays to score six runs in the ninth inning and make it a very close game.

Bush pitched eight innings and gave up two hits and one run.  That was a wonderful performance out of Bush as he picked up his third win of the season.  Somedays you just have everything working for you and that appeared to be the way for Bush.

Tim Dillard tried to finish the game in the ninth inning but gave up three hits including a two run home run to Overbay.  Dillard did record two outs in the inning but turned things over to David Riske who then loaded the bases and gave up a grand slam to Joe Inglett.  With the Blue Jays only one run down, the Brewers brought in Salomon Torres to record the final out of the game and secure the Brewers victory.

Russell Branyan once again went deep for a three run home run to lead the Brewers with two rbi.  Big daddy Prince Fielder was right behind him with two rbi including a inside the park home run.  Yeah you read that right, Fielder had a inside the park home run!  J.J. Hardy and Jason Kendall both had one rbi in the game as well for the brew crew.

Great series sweep for the Breweres.  They will now play the Baltimore Orioles this weekend.

The Milwaukee Brewers held off the Toronto Blue Jays Wednesday night and won 5-4.  It was the second straight game that the Brewers beat the Blue Jays and they will now be going for the three game sweep on Thursday afternoon.  I really like the Brewers chances of a sweep as they are playing really good baseball right now.

Ben Sheets improved to 8-1 as he tossed six innings and allowed four hits and two runs to get the victory.  Sheets walked four runners while striking out five other batters.  Pretty good outing for Sheets despite the four walks.

Carlos Villanueva and Guillermo Mota had a rough outing as they both gave up runs out of the bullpen.  Luckily for the Brewers they scored enough runs to have a little bit of insurance at the end of the game.

Russell Branyan and Mike Cameron both connected on solo home runs in the game.  Cameron finished the game with two rbi to lead the team while Branyan, Corey Hart, and Sheets all had one rbi in the game.

Now lets set back and see if the Brewers can sweep the Blue Jays on Thursday afternoon!

The Milwaukee Brewers scored seven runs and beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-0 on Tuesday night.  All seven of the Brewers runs came via the home run ball as they hit five home runs in the shut out.  I have to wonder if this will get the Brewers bats rolling and they can start another nice winning streak.

Ryan Braun hit two home runs and finished the game with three rbi.  Russell Branyan had one home run and two rbi in the game.  Prince Fielder and Craig Counsell both had solo home runs as well in the game for the Brewers.

On the mound it was Manny Parra pitching seven innings to get the victory.  Parra only gave up four hits while he improved his record to 6-2.  Mark DiFelice came in and pitched the final two innings of the game to really help the bullpen out.  I love seeing only one bullpen pitcher have to pitch in a game as all the others get some much needed rest.

Once again the Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros played home run derby down at Minute Maid Park in Houston.  The two teams combined for seven more home runs as the Brewers hit four and the Astros hit three.  At the end of the game the Brewers were ahead on the scoreboard by the score of 9-6.

Mike Cameron (9th), Gabe Kapler (5th) , Prince Fielder (11) , and Corey Hart (10) all went deep for the Brewers.  Hart finished with three rbi in the game and then six other Brewers had one rbi.  Cameron, Kapler, Fielder, Ryan Braun, Russell Branyan, and Bill Hall all finished the game with one rbi.

Brewers starting pitcher Ben Sheets didn’t have the outing that he was hoping for even though he did throw seven innings.  Sheets gave up seven hits and three runs while giving up two home runs in the “Juice Box”.  Guillermo Mota pitched the seventh inning and gave up two more runs in the game when he came in after Sheet exited.  Salomon Torres pitched the ninth inning and also had some trouble as he gave up one run.

The Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros played home run derby down in Houston on Wednesday night and it was the Brewers coming out on top with a 10-6 victory.  The Brewers hammerd five home runs in the game while the Astros hit three.  It was definaly not a night you wanted to be on the mound pitching that is for sure.

Corey Hart led the Brewers with two - two run home runs and four rbi in the game.  Hart went deep in the fourth and eighth innings.  Jason Kendell was next in line with a two run homer in the fifth inning as he finished the game with two rbi.  Russell Branyan and Mike Cameron both hit solo home runs in the fourth inning as they had one rbi each in the game.  Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder both chipped in with one rbi each as well.

On the mound for the Brewers, Manny Parra earned the win and is now 5-2.  He only pitched 5 1/3 innigns as he gave up ten hits and five runs.  Parra was taken deep three times for home runs as he couldn’t keep the ball inside the field of play.  A win is a win and Parra will take it any way he can get it.

Carlos Villanueva pitched 1 2/3 innings after Parra exited the game and he gave up three hits and one run.  Guillermo Mota was called upon to pitch the final two innings of the game and did not have any problems as he didn’t allow a hit or a run.
